Multiple OS

An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a computer system and functions as the intermediary between the installed applications and the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a printer, a computer mouse or a keyboard. When you run an application, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web hosting servers also feature an Operating System which functions as a host for all the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, and many others. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host OS.

If you decide to go for one of our virtual private server plans, you will be able to opt for one of the three Linux releases which we provide for the Operating System of the servers - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are among the most preferred and most stable server OSs available and we offer them so that you have a choice for the software environment of your machine if you wish to install some app with particular requirements with regards to the packages that have to be present on the web server. We also offer three hosting Control Panels and which one of them you could use depends on the OS that you have chosen. We leave the possibility to change the server Operating System open, so when you want to use software that requires an OS different from the one you have, we can always re-install the VPS. We can also keep the OS up-to-date on a weekly basis by installing all of the security updates which may be available.; Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server solutions - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They are all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they are totally free so they will not increase the cost of your new web server, but also because they are extremely stable and secure. Each of them is supported by a large community of developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from many hundreds of software packages that you may install on your server if the application that you intend to use has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what web hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with specific OSs only and because we want to provide you with as much flexibility as possible, we offer a couple of OSs and multiple Control Panels. If you get a server with a certain Operating System, we could change it upon request in case it turns out that you need alternative one. We can also keep your OS updated on a weekly basis as a part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
